This past Friday, I went to hear Nate Williams speak at the Society of Illustrators. It was great hearing about his start, and shift to becoming a full time illustrator and designer. He is the founder of illustration mundo, and letter playground, which I just found out about, and am a little ashamed of that fact… It’s an amazing site for people who have a love for hand lettered/designed letters to submit and share with others.

He talked about his learning difficulties at a young age, but the fascination with the shapes of letters, numbers and symbols obviously lead to him having such a great aesthetic, and career. He also mentioned his color blindness, which makes his work even more fascinating to me.

So I got home on Friday, and made this collage out of different scraps, and it’s taken a few days to get it up.

Here’s my doodle/notes from what Nate said was his idea of an important arsenal to have as an illustrator. An RSS feed.

Funny how a drawing of a man turned into a centaur.

Here’s a link to a great blog centaur-a-day:)
